Send one private link
Each person adds one true thing about them from your years working together, from their phone, without making an account. They only ever see their own contribution.
Retirement send-off
The best material is spread across people who barely overlapped. A private link lets each of them add their one story without a group email thread.

Three steps, one evening of admin at most
Each person adds one true thing about them from your years working together, from their phone, without making an account. They only ever see their own contribution.
You see who sent what, reword anything clumsy, and block whole topics. Nothing reaches the room until you have said yes to it.
Around 24 rounds, every one traced back to a contribution. Print on A4 or US Letter, or run it from the guests' phones.
A complete example, start to finish
Forty years of colleagues, three of whom could still be bothered to write something down. This example is invented— no real party, and nobody's stories but ours. It is here so you can check every round against the contribution it came from.
Dele started on the depot shop floor on 4 August 1986 and finished as head of the depot.
He kept a biscuit tin in his desk drawer and never once admitted to refilling it.
He drove the entire night shift home through a snowstorm rather than let anyone wait for a bus.

Counted by the same layout that prints the real thing, on A4. A full pack of around 24 rounds runs longer.
Six mechanics, chosen to fit the material
A pack only uses the mechanics your contributions can support. Send in three dated memories and you get a timeline; send none and you do not.
Read the question aloud, then reveal the answer once everyone has locked in.
Print or phonesRead the memory aloud and let the room guess who sent it in.
Print or phonesRead each moment aloud and have the room place it on the timeline.
Print or phonesHand each guest a folded slip and let them complete it quietly during the party.
Print and host onlyShow the picture and let the room work out the story behind it.
Print or phonesGive one guest the prompt and a pen; everyone else guesses what they sketch.
Print and host onlyWhat we ask you, before anyone else is invited
Then the settings: who is playing, what tone to take, print or phones, and anything to leave out entirely.
